Worldwide Welshman

Worldwide Welshman was born and raised in Snowdonia, and now splits his time between London, international folk music camps, and the spare rooms and couches of musician friends in mainland Europe. He composes in various languages and has entertained audiences across the UK and abroad. He describes his songs as "upbeat, tragi-comic reflections on the absurdities of modern life".
In 2015 singer-songwriter Liam Rickard moved to London with the specific aim of forming a "multilingual, border-defying, all-styles, world-folk-rock band." In 2016, Worldwide Welshman & Beyond were formed; a flexi-band of folk, rock & jazz musicians coming from different countries and musical backgrounds. The project has since expanded internationally, with alternative line-ups in Flanders, Germany & North Wales.
The London band consists of Nicholas Peruzzo from Italy on electric guitar, Ana María Ramírez Bautista from Colombia on clarinet, Sass Hoory from London / Isreal / Iraq on drums, and MJ Moon from Welwyn Garden City on bass.
In keeping with the global ethos of the project, Worldwide Welshman's first album, “The World Is Like A Crazy Goat,” has been recorded variously in London, Betws-y-Coed, Oxford, Stradella and Algiers, with a sample from a live performance in Ghent. It features past and present members of the band, and collaborations with musicians he met along the way.
The album contains original songs in English, Spanish & Chinese and alternative versions of two popular Welsh folk songs.
